Our story

Our delicious mushrooms can be found in Tesco stores across East Anglia and our story shows how plant-based food is helping British farmers like us to use land more sustainably. We’re part of one of the UK’s largest farming communities, and as our community has grown over the years and invested in bigger farms and chicken houses to give our free range chickens more room to roam, many small farm buildings around the UK have been left empty. So, when Tesco asked us if we could grow mushrooms, together we hatched a plan.

From chicken shed to mushroom shack

How about if we grew mushrooms in these unused buildings and brought them back to life? Now it’s exotic mushrooms that rule the roost down on the farm - with Oyster mushrooms being our mushroom of choice. With Tesco’s support, we want to share these delicious and versatile culinary wonders with everyone.

Watch them grow

The conditions in these repurposed buildings are perfect for growing mushrooms - watch them grow here with our time‑lapse film.

It’s not what comes first, it’s what comes next

From farm to plate

We’re also working with Derek Sarno, creator of the Wicked Kitchen to help everyone create amazing mushroom dishes. Chef Derek is a man on a mission to put this humble ingredient centre stage and he masterminded Wicked Kitchen alongside his brother Chad. Take a look at our recipes and check out the brothers’ Mushroom Manifesto to find out why mushrooms are the most exciting food in the kitchen.

You can do all kinds of things with mushrooms – from making meaty mushroom steaks, to satisfying mushroom shreds, to crispy mushroom bacon.
